A Pivotal Case Study
Gnip, a Boulder-based leader in social media data, needed a scalable SaaS solution after its first funding round to let customers stop worrying about data collection and focus on insight. The platform had to ingest and serve more than 100 billion real-time social activities per month and aggregate feeds from dozens of sources including Twitter, Tumblr and WordPress.
Pivotal rapidly built the inaugural API-driven platform to integrate public social streams, clean and deliver content, and introduced agile practices and Pivotal Tracker to the team. The result: Gnip scaled quickly, winning business from 90% of the Fortune 500 and eight of the nine largest social monitoring firms, earned leadership praise, and was acquired by Twitter in 2014.
