Case Study: City of Bogotá achieves centralized, scalable Safe City surveillance with Pivot3

A Pivot3 Case Study

Preview of the City of Bogota Case Study

Pivot3, Lenovo and ISS Provide Modern, Centralized Safe City Infrastructure for Major South American City

Bogotá’s municipal security team, working with Pivot3, Lenovo and ISS, faced an outdated, fragmented surveillance system: only 2,000 cameras (1,500 operational) from multiple vendors, no central monitoring, and limited datacenter space. The city needed a resilient, scalable platform to support up to 5,000 cameras across 18 boroughs, eliminate data loss and downtime, and fit high-capacity storage into a tight two-rack footprint.

The city deployed the Pivot3‑Lenovo Safe City solution — 30 servers and 20 storage appliances with 5 PB now (10 PB planned), Pivot3’s Intelligence Engine and ISS SecurOS VMS — plus thousands of new PTZ and high-resolution cameras. The result is centralized, city‑wide monitoring with modular scalability, improved resiliency and analytics support, 20–40% savings in space/power/cooling per PB, reduced risk and downtime, and faster, better-informed police response.
