How Village Capital uses PitchBook to find new startups and create a diverse portfolio

Village Capital, a global impact investing organization focused on seed-stage startups, needed a better way to source promising entrepreneurs, compare companies, and assess market fit across regions and industries. Using PitchBook, its team was able to research startups for accelerator programs, benchmark competitors, and identify direct market alternatives more efficiently.

PitchBook supported Village Capital with tools like the Research Center, market maps, and Companies and Deals filters to narrow searches by sector, region, capital raised, and stage. As a result, Village Capital improved its cohort selection and analysis process while helping build a more diverse portfolio, including 110 invested startups, more than $500M raised by those companies, 1,100+ entrepreneurs supported across 28 countries, and a portfolio that is 44% female-led.
