GoCardless reshapes funding access for UK small businesses

GoCardless, a UK payments platform serving small and medium-sized businesses, wanted to help its customers access working capital without personal guarantees or credit checks. Many of these businesses, especially micro-businesses and minority-owned firms, struggle with late payments and limited credit history, making it hard to secure funding through traditional lenders. GoCardless turned to Pipe for an embedded capital solution that could fit seamlessly into its existing customer experience.

Pipe provided a hosted capital program that GoCardless was able to launch in under six weeks, with a smooth integration and strong support from the Pipe team. The pilot performed well, with nearly £7 million advanced to customers in just three months, attach rates running twice the benchmark, and an outstanding NPS of 88. Buoyed by these results, GoCardless is now moving to Pipe’s embedded UI and planning to expand the offering into other markets.
