A PingCAP Case Study
ZhuanZhuan Internet, a Chinese used-goods e-commerce platform, needed a database that could scale horizontally without the complexity of sharding and reduce the heavy operations and maintenance burden of managing large, fast-growing data workloads. After migrating from MySQL to PingCAP’s TiDB, the team also looked for ways to simplify cluster deployment, hotspot detection, monitoring, backup, and query optimization.
PingCAP’s TiDB 4.0 features, including TiUP, Key Visualizer, TiDB Dashboard, TiFlash, Backup & Restore, and the unified read pool, helped ZhuanZhuan deploy clusters in about one minute, identify performance hotspots more easily, monitor cluster status from one interface, and back up 300 GB of data in under 10 minutes and restore it in about 12 minutes at 120 MB/sec. The result was lower maintenance cost, less manual troubleshooting, improved operational efficiency, and better performance for both online and offline workloads.
