The Linux Foundation - Customer Case Study

The Linux Foundation, a nonprofit with a highly distributed workforce of more than 175 employees, needed a better way to keep its virtual team connected, streamline onboarding, and replace manual tools like Google Docs spreadsheets and shared calendars. As the organization grew, it became harder for employees to discover who was working on what and to maintain a strong sense of community across a geographically dispersed team. Pingboard was chosen to help solve these challenges with a more efficient employee directory and collaboration tool.

Using Pingboard, The Linux Foundation centralized employee profiles, org charts, contact details, and out-of-office status updates, while integrating with Google Apps and Slack to fit existing workflows. The result was a more connected and productive organization: Mike Woster said Pingboard saves at least one hour per employee each month, plus several hours per new hire during onboarding, and it helped employees build relationships faster while supporting the Foundation’s lean, trust-based culture.
