VSP Vision Care Sees Satisfaction Soar When Clients Use Single Sign-on

VSP Vision Care, the largest vision benefits company in the U.S. serving about 57 million members and thousands of client organizations, needed a secure, flexible single sign-on (SSO) solution for its vsp.com portal. The company’s challenge was to support many different SSO types (from home‑grown systems to SAML 2.0), reduce login support calls, and improve client satisfaction while enabling future portal growth.

VSP implemented PingFederate, chosen for ease of integration and broad protocol support (including plans to use social identities). Implementations were fast—two test connections in a day and full client integrations in 1–2 days—leading to 20 clients on SSO, roughly 6,200 SSO logins per month, longer site visits, fewer support calls, and a platform that can add features over time.
