A Ping Identity Case Study

Preview of the H&R Block Case Study

H&R Block generates $60 million in deposits with Ping Identity

H&R Block, a major financial services provider, faced a significant challenge with its legacy monolithic identity system, which could not scale to handle 140 authentications per second during peak tax season. This created a bottleneck for the launch of its new Spruce mobile banking platform. To modernize its customer identity and access management (CIAM) architecture, H&R Block partnered with vendor Ping Identity.

Ping Identity implemented a full-scale identity transformation using PingOne and PingFederate. This solution provided a modernized, passwordless authentication experience via OIDC and SAML protocols. The project was completed in just 90 days. The results were immediate and substantial, with the Spruce platform generating approximately $60 million in deposits within its first week while successfully managing peak authentication loads.
