Case Study: HP achieves unified, scalable customer identity for 150M+ users with Ping Identity

A Ping Identity Case Study

Preview of the HP Case Study

HP engages customers via unified identity ecosystem

HP Inc. set out to modernize its customer and partner experience by replacing a fragmented set of more than a dozen legacy identity systems with a single, scalable identity platform. The company needed a global solution that could migrate over 100 business applications without planned downtime, support hundreds of millions of identities (and scale to a billion for future IoT growth), and meet strict availability targets (99.95% uptime).

HP implemented a unified HP ID using Ping Identity’s IAM and SSO, deployed as a hardened, multi-region service on AWS with an Apigee integration layer and automated deployment tooling. The platform now stores more than 150 million customer and partner identities (scalable to 1 billion), delivers single sign-on across HP’s digital properties, has migrated 100+ applications with no downtime, and is used by 168 applications—simplifying authentication, reducing complexity, and enabling global, secure access.
