Global Auto Maker Delivers Connected Cars to Consumers, Easily Adds Partners to Enhanced B2B Portal

Toyota Motor Europe is building connected telematics services that link its in‑dash Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation to online apps and personalized services via the My Toyota customer portal. To protect private user data and deliver a seamless, brand‑consistent experience, Toyota needed a reliable, scalable access management solution that could authenticate both drivers and their vehicles, support modern standards (OpenID Connect/OAuth2), and integrate with other Toyota applications.

Toyota implemented ForgeRock Access Management (now part of Ping Identity), a unified, standards‑based platform with REST APIs and adaptive two‑factor authentication that lets customers use the same credentials in the portal and in their car while the vehicle auto‑authenticates with a dynamic token. The solution enabled a frictionless, secure connected‑car experience, supported large‑scale B2B deployments across 42 countries, and delivered scalable, standards‑compliant access that improved customer convenience and business efficiency.
