A Ping Identity Case Study
GCI, an Alaska-based telecom and technology provider serving remote communities, faced a fragmented identity landscape: customers had multiple profiles across the GCI portal, billing, TV services and third-party apps, creating a disjointed login experience. Internally, GCI needed secure, anywhere access for 2,500 employees while supporting legacy and modern applications.
GCI selected Ping Identity and deployed PingFederate and PingAccess to unify workforce and customer identity. Customers now have a system-independent identity (UID, username and credentialing) with system-specific attributes linked via the UID, enabling single sign-on and consistent access across digital properties. The rollout improved security, sped time to market for customer-facing apps, streamlined employee onboarding and delivered a smoother experience for about 250,000 customers.
