University Secures Online Exam Access with Biometrics

LUISS University needed a fast, secure way to verify student identity for remote exams during COVID-19 without relying on passwords or storing sensitive biometric data. Facing the challenge of scaling online exam access while protecting academic integrity and integrating with existing ADFS infrastructure, the university turned to Ping Identity and its PingOne Recognize solution.

Ping Identity implemented privacy-preserving biometric authentication that worked with Microsoft ADFS and let students sign in using their devices and biometrics. The solution was deployed in just two days, supported 10,000 students and 2,200 virtual exams, and handled more than 1,500 authentications per day with minimal IT overhead, no password resets, and a smoother exam experience.
