A Pimcore Case Study
Deutscher Apotheker Verlag (DAV), Germany’s largest pharmaceutical publisher, needed to future‑proof its international drug database Index Nominum — a portfolio asset containing around 470,000 medications, 8,100 active ingredients and derivatives, 30,000 manufacturers across 166 countries. The challenge was to modernize the underlying technology, implement a robust editorial system and streamline workflows and roles so an international editorial team could maintain the database reliably and at scale.
Basilicom implemented a Pimcore master data management/PIM platform, conducted workshops to model editors’ use cases, migrated and restructured the existing data, and digitized editorial processes with role‑based interfaces. The result is a new technical and process standard: higher data quality and timeliness, greatly reduced manual administration, and simplified, more reliable downstream processing and distribution.
