DB Station&Service AG, a Deutsche Bahn subsidiary responsible for roughly 5,400 stations, faced a costly, error-prone process of manually updating analogue information showcases across stations. Paper posters limited the amount and timeliness of critical travel information, consuming staff time and leaving passengers without up-to-date, context-specific details.
Working with Basilicom, DB developed an agile prototype digital showcase: an interactive touchscreen with 12 applications that aggregates real-time data into a central master data system and is managed via an employee dashboard. Launched as pilots in Augsburg, Wolfsburg and Münster after six months, the solution delivers up-to-date arrival/departure info, carriage order, construction notices and local services, enabling efficient omni-channel distribution and richer passenger information.
