A Pimcore Case Study
OSRAM, a global leader in lighting for automotive and other markets, was struggling with increasingly complex packaging requirements: differing legal texts and pictograms across countries left less space on labels and drove up the number of localized artworks. To simplify production, save costs and free up packaging design space, OSRAM and solution partner mds. set out to “outsource” regulatory and product information digitally using QR codes.
Built on Pimcore, the QR-code database directs users to a country-specific product page (in the local language) populated from connected PIM/CRM, a legal text database and DAM assets. The centralized, auto-updating system reduced localized artworks from over 1,500 to about 900 per year (cutting costs by more than 60%), sped up packaging production, eliminated many reprints for labeling changes, and created a modular, scalable foundation for future DAM integration, Web2Print and omni-channel use.
