Online Retailer Steps up to Meet Growing Business Demands

Shoes.com, a Vancouver-based online footwear and apparel retailer (founded 1996 and part of the Hardy Capital portfolio), was growing rapidly and struggling with fragmented product data across Shopify and a custom PHP platform. The company needed a single, unified data model to consolidate core product attributes (descriptions, prices, inventory) and replace multiple PIM systems while integrating cleanly with its e-commerce ecosystem and handling roughly 3 million records.

Pimcore Global Services implemented Pimcore PIM/MDM, building a tailored data model and using event handlers to integrate with existing systems, migrating ~30 core fields for ~3 million records and continuing weekly updates during transition. The consolidated platform now processes up to 6,000 updates per hour, keeps prices, stock, colors and availability accurate, optimizes the editorial UI for Shoes.com’s workflows, and monitors over 3 million product records—improving operational efficiency and shopper confidence.
