A Pimcore Case Study
Deutscher Apotheker Verlag, Germany’s largest pharmaceutical publisher, needed a searchable homeopathy database as part of its digital transformation. The company faced heterogeneous, unstructured medicinal data, no central web database or front-end for data maintenance, limited technology for POS distribution, and time-consuming searches that made reliable homeopathic consultations impractical. Requirements included fast, customizable access, SQL/API connectivity and a secure web interface.
Using Pimcore (PIM/MDM, DAM, CMS) and agile delivery, Basilicom built a centralized, redundancy-free master database with automated IFAP imports, data normalization, a synonym layer and workflows for manual mapping. The solution exposed the content via APIs and a password-protected front end supporting four use cases (interaction with synthetic drugs, simple indications, a smart-wizard for homeopathic indications, and direct search). Result: faster, higher-quality information for pharmacists, reduced editorial workload, higher employee acceptance, and a scalable foundation for new digital services and sales opportunities.
