A Piinpoint Case Study
Heartland Restaurant Group, a fast-growing Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins franchisee in the Greater Pittsburgh region, faced the challenge of planning new store development in a market that was already largely built out. As the company prepared to add at least 20 more locations, it needed a smarter way to identify underserved areas without cannibalizing existing restaurants. To support this growth, HRG partnered with Piinpoint for data-driven site selection and market mapping.
With Piinpoint, Heartland Restaurant Group was able to analyze its current footprint, evaluate potential trade areas, and find new “diamonds in the rough” that could expand the market without hurting existing stores. The solution helped HRG reduce the risk of cannibalization and make more confident infill development decisions. While no specific revenue figures were provided, the case study highlights that Piinpoint enabled more strategic expansion planning for a company that had grown from 0 to 52 restaurants in 12 years.
