Hootsuite, a leading social media marketing platform, needed native support for VK — the most widely used social network in Europe — after rising demand from large and mid‑market customers. To expand Hootsuite’s App Directory with a deep VK integration, Hootsuite partnered with Pieoneers Software to build a web app that would meet VK’s advanced API requirements and Hootsuite users’ expectations.

Pieoneers Software developed the first full‑featured VK web client for Hootsuite using Ruby on Rails, KnockoutJS and OAuth, working closely with the VK team to gain extended API access and performing client‑side API calls to maximize efficiency. After extensive QA and stress testing the app now serves tens of thousands of users, responds virtually as fast as the VK API with no obvious degradation under load, and enables posting, sharing, searching, commenting, liking and newsfeed views from within Hootsuite.
