World's Largest Automotive Manufacturer boosts stamping output by 678,960 parts with Piab

The customer, one of the world's largest automotive manufacturers, faced a challenge on its #6 stamping line where competitive suction cups were dropping stamped aluminum parts. This issue was reducing the line's output to 10 strokes-per-minute (SPM), below its target of 11 SPM and its 13 SPM capability. The customer needed a solution to prevent these drops and increase productivity.

Piab provided its friction cups for an initial trial using its automotive stamping program. The solution was a success; the customer increased press speed to over 11 SPM, eliminating part drops and saving on damaged parts. This resulted in an additional 82 parts per hour, leading to nearly 679,000 more parts produced annually on that single line. Piab's cups provided a strong grip on oily surfaces and proved to be longer-lasting.
