TGW Robotics GmbH handles 25kg cheese blocks with Piab vacuum technology

TGW Robotics GmbH, a manufacturer of conveyor and palletizing systems, faced a major challenge in automating the handling of heavy, vacuum-packed cheese blocks. The shrink-wrapped film's inconsistent surface, which could be wrinkled or leak air, made it difficult for standard grippers to achieve a secure and stable lift without the risk of dropping the product.

Piab provided the solution with its piGRIP® configurable suction cups and high-performance COAX® vacuum ejectors. The soft-lipped suction cups adapted to the film's curvature for a secure grip, while the compact, energy-efficient ejectors delivered the necessary high-volume airflow. This resulted in a stable, automated process that improved reliability and eliminated the need for manual, physically stressful labor in placing paper interlayers between cheese blocks.
