Tecno Pack SpA, an automation specialist, was tasked with creating a robotic system for the secondary packaging of biscuits for a leading international confectionery company. The challenge involved handling a variety of flowpack sizes and formats arriving in a disordered manner, requiring a fast, reliable, and flexible pick-and-place solution. They addressed this using grippers equipped with Piab's piGRIP® suction cups and piCOMPACT®23 SMART vacuum pumps.

The solution implemented by Piab used remote-mounted vacuum pumps to keep the robot grippers lightweight and powerful, with quick-release interfaces to minimize downtime during product changeovers. This system achieved a high cycle time, picking 500 flowpacks per minute across four robots. Piab's technology provided a secure grip on the packaging and guaranteed fast, repetitive pick-up and release times, leading to an efficient and reliable automated process for the customer.
