Selematic SpA boosts pasta packing to 80–120 packs per minute with Piab

Selematic SpA, a pasta packaging system manufacturer, faced challenges with frequent pack breakages and costly downtime when handling different pasta pack formats and layers. Their previous internally-built gripping systems required frequent replacement for different product sizes and stratifications. They partnered with Piab to find a solution using the Kenos KVGL vacuum gripper.

Piab implemented its Kenos KVGL vacuum gripper, equipped with piGRIP suction cups, which was operated by a cartesian robot. This single system could handle all pasta pack formats without causing damage, eliminating the need for changeovers. The solution, assisted by Piab's consulting services, significantly reduced costs and increased productivity, allowing the system to handle between 80 and 120 packs per minute.
