The customer, Sapho of Bilgram Group, faced a bottleneck in its process for palletizing bags of road salt. Their old gripper system could not handle required peak quantities, limiting overall productivity. The vendor Piab provided a solution using its hybrid bag gripper.

Piab's solution combined its standard hybrid bag gripper with a customized adaptation to fit Sapho's roller belt. The gripper's integrated Decker plates and suction cups ensured dense, stable pallets and automated layer handling. As a result, Piab increased the customer's palletizing rate from 6 to 9 bags per minute, a 33% productivity gain, allowing for up to 16 additional pallets per day while preventing bag damage.
