Sapho increases palletizing to 9 bags per minute with Piab

Sapho GmbH, a company within the Bilgram Chemie Group that supplies de-icing salt, faced a challenge with their outdated bag gripper system. Their old system lacked the necessary performance and required manual monitoring, which limited productivity and took employees away from other tasks. To prepare for the high-demand winter season and increase their palletizing speed, they sought a new solution and chose to invest in a hybrid bag gripper from Piab.

Piab implemented its robust hybrid bag gripper, which was adapted to fit Sapho's existing roller belt system. The solution enabled Sapho to automate the handling of salt bags, eliminating manual intervention and significantly increasing cycle times. With Piab's gripper, Sapho increased its palletizing rate from 6 to 9 bags per minute, resulting in 16 additional pallets per day. This boosted productivity, improved employee safety by automating the placement of intermediate layers, and ensured the bags were stacked firmly without damage.
