MVQuadro boosts safe street light handling with Piab and 70-80% custom automation

Italian system integrator MVQuadro was tasked with designing a new assembly and packaging line for a manufacturer of street lights. The challenge was to increase handling efficiency for delicate components like housings, electronics, and glass without adding any risk of damage to the products. To meet this need, MVQuadro integrated solutions from Piab, including Kenos FlexiGrip KFG grippers and an array of piGRIP suction cups.

The solution implemented by Piab consisted of a vacuum-driven system using anthropomorphic arms and a cobot. The flexibility of the Kenos grippers allowed for handling various components without tool changes, avoiding production interruptions. This led to optimized cycle times and operational efficiency. According to the project manager, Piab's solutions provided crucial advantages in vacuum maintenance, safety, and adaptability to the limited workspace, with the excellent technical support being a key reason for their selection.
