Gruppo Esea handles 600 batteries per day with Piab

The customer, Gruppo Esea, an Italian automation specialist, was challenged with designing a safe pick-and-place system for palletizing wet vehicle batteries at a major automotive battery manufacturer. They turned to vendor Piab for a solution, utilizing their DURAFLEX® Friction Cups to handle the difficult, wet surfaces and ensure a secure grip.

Piab's solution provided a safe and reliable gripping mechanism using their specialized suction cups, which can withstand high shear forces and handle moist surfaces. The implemented system allows the plant to handle one battery per minute, translating to approximately 600 batteries palletized per day, with maximum process safety guaranteed.
