Banca d'Italia palletizes 6 pallets per hour with Piab

Banca d'Italia faced a manual, labor-intensive challenge in palletizing boxes of security cards, which required handling different box sizes and porous plastic interlayers. To automate this end-of-line process, system integrator Robotecnik utilized Piab's vacuum technology, specifically the B75 silicone suction cups.

The solution implemented by Piab enabled a single, compact gripper to handle both the boxes and interlayers reliably, eliminating the need for a heavier, costlier dual-system. This system, using Piab's B75 cups with integrated COAX ejectors and level compensators, automated the palletizing, creating up to six pallets per hour. The results for Banca d'Italia included a consistent automated process and significant energy savings thanks to Piab's efficient vacuum generation.
