Austerschmidt Fresh Bakery boosts seed reuse to nearly 100% with Piab

Austerschmidt Fresh Bakery, an industrial bakery in Germany, faced ergonomic and efficiency challenges with the manual handling of seeds like sunflower and pumpkin seeds for their bread production. Seeking to relieve employee strain from bending and lifting and to improve process reliability, they turned to vendor Piab for an automated solution using the piFLOW®f vacuum conveyor.

Piab implemented a mobile piFLOW®f system to automatically fill the seed spreading units. The solution eliminated manual shoveling, allowed employees to focus on core dough-making processes, and enabled nearly 100% seed reuse through a recirculation system. The bakery achieved its goals of improved ergonomics, greater process stability, and more careful resource use, with Piab noted for rapid planning and integration into the existing production line.
