World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wanted to amplify fan engagement for WrestleMania 30 but faced an aggressive, under-30-day timeline and the need to update schedules on the fly because of shifting celebrity appearances and complex event logistics. WWE partnered with Phunware to build a location-enabled event app that would provide event information, ticketing, indoor wayfinding and real-time communications.

Phunware delivered a flexible mobile platform with push broadcasts, targeted mobile marketing automation, Bluetooth beacons for turn-by-turn navigation and location-triggered experiences, plus analytics. The app drove 170,000 user-initiated events from more than 8,000 devices, sent ~42,000 broadcast notifications (20% CTR), 2,000+ geo-fenced messages (50% overall CTR, 30% at the venue), and achieved ~30% engagement on beacon-triggered content—helping mitigate autograph crowds and boost ticket, seat and merchandise sales.
