A PhotoShelter for Brands Case Study
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a newsroom tracing its roots to 1786, sat on a vast, largely inaccessible photo archive that documented the region’s history. The challenge was turning those print stacks and legacy images into a searchable, engaging resource that would resonate with both local readers and the many Pittsburghers living elsewhere.
Using Libris by PhotoShelter as part of its workflow, the Post-Gazette scanned and indexed thousands of photos and launched "The Digs," a weekly curated slideshow pairing images with storytelling. The effort transformed dormant assets into a searchable online archive that celebrates the paper’s visual legacy, drives reader engagement and reconnects audiences—locally and nationally—with Pittsburgh’s history.
