How the Global Heritage Fund Refreshed its Website with a Photo-First Strategy

The Global Heritage Fund is a nonprofit that rescues and restores endangered cultural sites around the world. Needing to better convey the emotional impact of its work to donors, the organization found its website outdated and text-heavy — “stuck somewhere in 2005” — which made it hard to engage new visitors and show the real-world results of its projects.

To fix this, the team led a brand and site refresh with a photo-first strategy, using an organized Libris image library and a developer and designer to place photography front and center. The visual overhaul has doubled monthly visits (from ~4–5k to ~8–10k), earned positive feedback from donors, and made it much easier to communicate impact — with plans to continue expanding visual documentation as a core part of projects.
