A PhotoShelter for Brands Case Study
The Municipal Association of South Carolina (MASC) is a nonprofit that supports 270 cities and towns; over decades it amassed thousands of photos—about 2,000 digital files plus boxes of prints—kept in disorganized folders and ill-suited systems like SharePoint. With longtime communications lead Mary Brantner approaching retirement, the organization faced the challenge of preserving institutional memory, securing its images, and making them easily searchable and shareable for staff and members.
MASC adopted Libris by PhotoShelter, migrating its existing file structure, batch-applying metadata, and organizing galleries by city. The cloud library delivered fast keyword search (e.g., 200+ “park” results), easy internal and public sharing via galleries and lightboxes, quick asset delivery, and a digitization workflow for historic prints (event galleries now hold 300+ photos). Staff training and a formal handoff mean the archive is preserved, workflows are faster, and members can access the organization’s visual history going forward.
