City of Newark Moves to Cloud-based Phone Service

The City of Newark, the largest city in New Jersey, needed to modernize phone service across multiple departments while lowering ownership costs and supporting very different communication needs, from the city call center to police precincts. It partnered with Phone.com to move from traditional systems to a cloud-based phone service that could be centrally managed and scaled across offices.

Phone.com implemented a VoIP solution with more than 40 features, allowing the city to add, remove, and reconfigure extensions quickly, support mobile use, and manage specialized call-handling needs from one platform. The rollout started as a small test in 2015 and grew to hundreds of phones, delivering cost savings, greater flexibility, and easier scalability for city operations.
