Valleys to Coast, a not-for-profit housing association managing around 6,000 properties in Bridgend, needed to replace ageing IBM PCs and laptops that were nearly seven years old. With more than 160 users across three offices, the organisation wanted a modern desktop infrastructure that would be easier to manage, cheaper to maintain, and far better for users, so it turned to Phoenix Software and its desktop virtualisation expertise.

Phoenix Software implemented a VMware View and VMware vSphere-based VDI solution using Fusion-io SSDs and Wyse P20 thin clients. The result was a major improvement in performance, with PC boot times cut from up to five minutes to less than one minute, better application responsiveness, and centralised management of the desktop estate, allowing most changes and fixes to be handled remotely and much more quickly.
