University of Aberdeen improves student study experience with any device, anywhere learning through VMware Horizon

The University of Aberdeen wanted to improve the student experience and support tech-savvy students who expected flexible access to learning tools from their own devices, anywhere and at any time. It turned to Phoenix Software for a virtual desktop solution using VMware Horizon to help modernize access to university applications and study resources.

Phoenix Software implemented VMware Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure so staff and students could log in to personal desktops from any device and location, including mobile devices, while still running graphic-intensive applications. The result was a more flexible “flipped classroom” learning environment, improved access to course tools and 3D applications, and rising student satisfaction, with feedback showing students valued being able to study on campus, at home, or elsewhere without relying on campus PCs.
