Case Study: The Representative Body of the Church in Wales achieves lower IT costs and better performance with Phoenix Software

A Phoenix Software Case Study

Preview of the The Representative Body of the Church in Wales Case Study

The Representative Body of the Church in Wales is the central administrative body serving all six diocese of the Church in Wales

The Representative Body of the Church in Wales worked with Phoenix Software to centralise and standardise its IT environment for 200+ users across six dioceses. The organisation needed to reduce support costs, improve resilience, refresh end-of-life equipment, and prepare for a future VDI deployment, while replacing a fragmented mix of local and central systems that was hard to manage and often inefficient.

Phoenix Software designed and deployed a virtualised server solution using three Dell R730 servers, VMware vSphere Essentials Plus, and a NexGen SAN array, while reusing existing servers and licences to create low-cost disaster recovery. The project was completed in five days with zero downtime, and the Church reports annual operating savings of £25,000–£35,000, faster performance, easier centralised management, and a future VDI rollout that could be implemented with minimal additional hardware or disruption.
