Case Study: Middlesbrough Council improves public services with Phoenix Software and Dell EMC vSAN

A Phoenix Software Case Study

Preview of the Middlesbrough Council Case Study

Middlesbrough Council creates a hyper-converged IT infrastructure to enhance public services and enable innovation with limited resources

Middlesbrough Council worked with Phoenix Software to modernise its IT environment as an old managed services contract ended and servers approached end of life. With more than 300 applications to support and tighter public-sector budgets, the council needed a more reliable, efficient platform that could improve service delivery for staff and citizens.

Phoenix Software helped the council evaluate options and implement a Dell EMC and VMware hyper-converged infrastructure, including Dell EMC PowerEdge rack servers, vSAN, and PowerVault TL4000 tape libraries for backup. The project was completed in less than three months and delivered stronger resilience, instant replication for all applications, backup times reduced by nearly 30%, and an estimated £80,000 in savings through a roadmap of incremental upgrades.
