Ensuring continuity of care and maintaining over 80% of treatment for cancer patients during COVID-19

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, one of the world’s top cancer centres, needed a fast and secure way to enable staff to work from home during COVID-19 while continuing to treat around 60,000 patients a year. With the help of Phoenix, the trust turned to a Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) solution to let staff use their own devices remotely without compromising security or access to the trust network.

Phoenix rapidly delivered an express WVD deployment, testing and packaging applications and building the environment on Microsoft Azure in just nine days. The result was a scalable solution for up to 600 users, continuity of care that supported more than 80% of workload during the crisis, and an estimated £500,000 saving compared with buying laptops, while Phoenix and Microsoft helped the trust protect patients and fund more research.
