Canterbury Christ Church University needed a flexible, secure, and accessible way to support more than 18,000 students with individual needs when the UK went into lockdown and on-premises computing could no longer meet demand. The university worked with Phoenix Software to quickly find a remote learning solution, using Azure Virtual Desktop to deliver applications and desktops to students during the pandemic.

Phoenix Software helped Canterbury Christ Church University deploy Azure Virtual Desktop in about one to two months, with support from Microsoft fast-track resources. The solution gave the university the scalability to expand or reduce capacity as needed and to run different VM specifications for different student groups, helping ensure a reliable remote desktop experience and supporting continued learning throughout the lockdown.
