Phoenix Energy Technologies worked with a large pet specialty retailer operating 1,600+ locations and serving over 55,000 associates. During COVID-19, the retailer needed to maintain comfort and safety in small enclosed spaces such as adoption centers, grooming salons, boarding areas, and veterinary partnerships, while also controlling energy costs amid rising summer heat and fluctuating occupancy guidance.

Phoenix Energy Technologies helped test an “always occupied” setpoint strategy through a 20-store pilot and then rolled it out chainwide across 1,650+ stores in about five days. The solution kept stores at 73° instead of dropping to 78° overnight, improving comfort, reducing hot calls, and keeping zone temperatures more consistent, while producing only a meager increase in energy spend and cutting year-over-year setpoint exceptions by more than half.
