YorkScene, the York Region Arts Council’s community arts and events website, needed to raise public awareness and grow its social media presence and database of supporters. In 2013, YorkScene turned to Phoenix Agency for help developing an online contest strategy, including a sweepstakes campaign to engage local residents and businesses.

Phoenix Agency implemented targeted sweepstakes promotions using local business-donated prize packs, ads in Metroland newspapers, and posters in local businesses to drive contest signups and Facebook follows. The effort was highly successful, boosting YorkScene’s Facebook Likes from 300 to more than 4,600, a gain of over 1,000%, and leading YorkScene to expand from 2 contests per year to 10 annually.
