A PFLB Case Study
An aviation group engaged the vendor PFLB to conduct performance and load testing of its BoardConnect service, a Wi-Fi system for broadcasting multimedia content to passengers during flights. The customer needed to verify the service's stability under load to ensure a positive passenger experience and avoid any damage to their corporate reputation, especially after a previous test by another airline yielded different results.
PFLB designed a complex test bed, utilizing laptops with multiple Wi-Fi adapters and a network of virtual machines to simulate 50 concurrent passenger connections. They used JMeter, InfluxDB, and Grafana to execute various user scenarios and collect data. The solution successfully identified that the BoardConnect system was unstable under full load, providing the customer with critical findings that differed from prior tests. This allowed the aviation group to send the hardware for redevelopment to fix the performance issues, thereby preventing potential reputational harm.
