Performance Testing of the Transaction Processing System

The customer, a big commercial bank, a leader in the consumer credit market, faced potential performance and fault tolerance risks when migrating its transaction processing system in-house. To mitigate these risks, the bank hired vendor PFLB to conduct comprehensive performance testing on its TranzWare systems to identify bottlenecks before the migration.

PFLB's solution involved creating load tests to benchmark the old and new system configurations, using tools like LoadRunner and a proprietary ISO-8583 emulator. Their testing successfully identified a critical bottleneck in a banking interface that was causing a severe drop in throughput. This finding led the bank to postpone its deployment by three months to fix the issue.
