McLeod Health brings students, providers, and parents together through school-based telehealth

McLeod Health, a century‑old healthcare system with more than 8,500 employees and seven hospitals, needed a way to deliver timely care to students in rural South Carolina, include parents and specialists in visits, and eliminate manual paper/fax telehealth workflows. To meet those challenges, McLeod partnered with Pexip and deployed Pexip Infinity (self‑hosted) along with Microsoft Teams CVI, One‑Touch Join and Virtual Meeting Rooms to power its school‑based telehealth program.

Pexip’s video engine, integrated into a customized web interface and McLeod’s EMR/scheduling, enabled secure multi‑participant virtual visits (most occurring within an hour) using telehealth carts, tablets or browsers and shared peripherals like stethoscopes and otoscopes. The Pexip‑powered solution reduced missed instruction time, improved access to timely diagnoses and e‑prescriptions, lowered unnecessary ER visits, and replaced manual processes with streamlined electronic information sharing.
