A Pexip Case Study

Preview of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba Case Study

How the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba Uses Pexip

The Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, which hears appeals across the Dutch Caribbean islands, faced the challenge of keeping courts running during the COVID‑19 pandemic while protecting participants and preserving privacy. The court was already using Pexip and expanded use of Pexip Virtual Meeting Rooms (VMRs) to shift all proceedings to a fully virtual format quickly and securely.

Pexip’s VMRs connected judges, lawyers, parties and detainees across islands and the Netherlands using laptops, mobile devices or existing Cisco room systems, with PIN‑protected, lockable conferences and industry‑standard encryption (aligned with UK NCSC principles). The result was consistently higher audio/video quality and ease of use, positive user feedback, reduced travel and detainee transfers (including a dedicated police‑station workstation), uninterrupted virtual hearings, and improved on‑time starts and operational efficiency thanks to Pexip.
