Case Study: Tasmanian Government Department of Health achieves scalable, secure telehealth with Pexip

A Pexip Case Study

How Telehealth Tasmania expanded virtual healthcare and communications

The Tasmanian Government Department of Health’s Telehealth Tasmania needed to rapidly expand virtual care during the COVID‑19 surge while keeping patient data secure and avoiding a costly rip‑and‑replace of legacy systems. To meet these needs they engaged Pexip, deploying Pexip Infinity (self‑hosted), virtual meeting rooms, Microsoft Teams Cloud Video Interop (CVI), One‑Touch Join and a customized telehealth solution.

Pexip delivered an on‑premise, interoperability‑focused telehealth platform (implemented with partner CommuniCloud) that integrated Teams with existing video infrastructure, preserved data control and enabled browser‑based access. As a result, Telehealth Tasmania can run up to 250 concurrent patient–consultant calls, queue as many as 5,000 future consultations, is rolling the solution out to ~5,000 internal users, and has achieved easier meeting joinability plus enterprise‑grade security using Pexip.
