Case Study: NHS Wales maintains patient care and scales video conferencing with Pexip

A Pexip Case Study

Preview of the NHS Wales Case Study

How NHS Wales modernized and scaled up their video conferencing in response to the Covid-19 pandemic

NHS Wales, the publicly funded healthcare system in Wales with almost 78,000 staff and more than 500 room video systems plus 1,000+ PC clients, needed to modernize and scale video conferencing rapidly in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organization sought to move from an aging on‑premise service to the cloud, achieve fast interoperability with Microsoft Teams, support large numbers of remote and hospital‑based staff, and meet GDPR and NHS Wales Information Governance requirements. Pexip was engaged, offering Pexip Cloud Video Interoperability (CVI) and Virtual Meeting Rooms (VMRs) to address these needs.

Pexip implemented CVI and some VMRs to deliver a cloud service that seamlessly integrated traditional video endpoints with Microsoft Teams, enabling remote and hybrid working and keeping services available to all staff across NHS Wales. The Pexip solution helped maintain patient care throughout the pandemic, allowed NHS Wales to get more value from existing investments while phasing in Teams‑compatible devices, met stringent security and compliance requirements, and was judged to be good value for money during a rapid, organization‑wide rollout.
