Helsinki University Hospital - Customer Case Study

Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) needed a scalable, secure, plug-in-free video platform to replace a Skype-based system for use across pre/post-surgery consults, nursing follow-ups, speech therapy and psychiatry. They required Microsoft interoperability, easy patient sign-in, tight control of sensitive data and the ability to add multiple participants (family, translators, specialists). HUS selected Pexip and its Infinity software to meet these requirements.

Pexip delivered a self-hosted Pexip Infinity deployment in Microsoft Azure with Microsoft/Office 365 SSO, a customized join experience, API integration into HUS’s patient booking system and enhanced security (encrypted meeting IDs and role controls). The pilot ran smoothly, post-call surveys showed only minor tweaks were needed, patients adopted the system quickly and optional test calls reduced time to join—leading to measurable efficiency gains, ongoing monthly requests from new clinics and on-demand scaling as usage grows. Pexip continues to support broader rollouts and future mobile-app work.
