Gestational Diabetes Pathway provides easy and accessible virtual visits for pregnant women

Belfast HSCT’s Gestational Diabetes Pathway needed a telehealth solution to reduce frequent in‑person visits, save patient travel time, and integrate video consultations into existing patient administration and electronic records without requiring downloads or extra apps. The Trust selected Pexip, deploying Pexip Infinity via a hosted/shared service (managed by partner Hospital Services Limited) to provide secure, high‑quality video from any device and embed virtual visits into clinicians’ workflows.

Pexip’s implementation enabled clinicians to run remote, secure outpatient consultations easily, leading to 1,000 virtual consultations between January 2019 and November 2020, a 32% reduction in face‑to‑face diabetes specialist appointments, and an estimated 15,811 miles saved across 654 appointments (about 4.37 tons of CO2). By integrating Pexip into existing systems the Trust streamlined user experience, cut costs, improved access for patients and providers, and supported award‑winning, continued care during the pandemic.
